Finally over...

...until the next round. That's right everybody, midterm exams are finally over, at least until the next round of exams, but that's not as bad, because not all classes have two midterms. Because of these stupid midterms, I was unable to party for Halloween this weekend due to lack of sleep. However, I was lucky enough to see the final 10 minutes of Saturday Night Live, well you might consider that lucky. And seeing as how I'm a fan of percussion, any percussion really, this just had to be mentioned. Beck was performing that night, and he played a song called Clap Hands, however it was somewhat different than most songs. Here's a clip of that song performed on another show minus the marionettes.

I really don't think that I should have learned how to embed these youtube videos on a blog because now I'm just overdoing it. But whatever, it gives me something to do when I'm bored as shit. Until next time...

Kovalev is awesome

Yes, Alexei Kovalev is one of the greatest puck handlers in the NHL today, maybe even in history, but this guy has a temper like a two year-old. In honour of his game misconduct last night for banging the glass with his stick when a referee didn't make a call, in Boston of all places, we'll take a look back to last season when he just destroyed former Canadiens forward Darcy Tucker, now with the shitty Leafs. Now I love this hit, I love Kovalev, and I hate the Leafs, so this has everything. Go Habs! Go!

And if you have about 10 minutes to kill, here's the brawl to end all brawls. For Canadiens fans too young to remember, this is the Quebec-Montreal Good Friday brawl. Now this was a rivalry, they were rivals right up until Quebec became Colorado, that's garbage. This happened a few months before I was even born, but it brings a tear to my eye when I watch because I miss the days when there were true rivalries. I mean in my lifetime there haven't been rivalries like back in the day, but you still had the Leafs/Canadiens, Canadiens/Quebec, not so much Boston. At least now there are kinda rivalries between the teams in the Northeast Division. So here's the footage from that fateful day in April 1984. For the fans of today's NHL, you'll see and hear some names you might recognize, but not as players.

Teachers are morons

I just thought that this should be shared with everyone as soon as I found it. This just proves what I've been saying for a very long time. And I'm sure my dad would agree.

Also if you haven't seen it yet, this is the greatest essay you'll never write. Of course it really doesn't deserve the grade it got. Further proof that teachers don't live in the same world as the rest of us.

I so want one of these

I know, I know, i just posted earlier this week and I'm posting again. I'm sorry, but I just saw these insane things that just deserve a mention. I think this will become a weekly thing because there's just so many things I see that I want. Of course I'll try to post only things that most everybody would want, so if anyone sees anything awesome, drop a line. I can tell you one thing, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people would want these.

The first is something that anybody can make. It's a Lego flame-thrower. Of course how the blocks don't melt is beyond me, but I'm willing to try it out. It's basically a mechanism that pushes a can of butane so that the gas can be expelled onto a flame. If the flame is already there or if it's created by a spark, I don't know. Now this is something we can use for our Engineering Week. check it out in action.

The next item up for scrutiny is the Playstation 3. Now there are probably a lot of people out there that can't wait for this bad boy to come out, and I can tell you one thing, I'm one of them. This bastard is going to be awesome, it's already the shit and it hasn't even hit the market yet. So what if it's going to cost you 900$ canadian when it comes out, I want to see this head to head with the XBox 360 and watch Sony kick Microsoft in the nuts. This thing looks great. Here are a couple of ads for the wonderful PS3. As they say, Play B3yond.

Did you hear that Dubya is a tool?!

Actually, this post has nothing to do with George W. Bush. But I'm sure that you can all figure out how he's a tool, you don't need me to tell you. I just needed an eye-catching title like for every other post I've done. In any case, on to the fun stuff.

Incredible how you actually need to write something of substance to be noticed by the people at blogger. I was looking through some of the recommended blogs posted on my blogger dashboard and they all have one thing in common, they all talk about something. I am of the firm belief that these shouldn't be public diaries. It should be fluff, nothing more, just random thoughts. But whatever, they can write anything they want, and so can I, and I will. Wanna fight aboud id?

Oh and apparently Kelly Clarkson is similar to Godsmack, Puddle of Mudd, and 40 Below Summer. Don't believe me, well Pandora told me so.

Right now, I'm in the thick of midterms, so I have a lot to talk about. Well at least about midterms, but i'm not going to bore you with the details. I'll just tell you that it's about time they finish. By this time next week, I'll be finished and I'll have to worry about finals. Yay!

Ok... um, fun stuff... So the first of many Halloween parties to come was held by us on Friday the 20th. And by us, I mean Concordia Eng Games. Polytechnique has their's on the 27th, McGill has their's on the 28th, and ETS has their's on November 1st. Another notable mention is that CSCE is holding their annual pumpkin carving contest on the 27th as well. Here are a few pictures from our Halloween Party which was held at Caprice restaurant on Prince Arthur, really nice place. Sorry I don't have more, but I was busy with other things.

Here's our unappreciated VP Machine basking in the wonders of the festivities, and of course being drunk at 6pm.

Apparently Shanghai Noon was a pretty historically accurate movie.

And here's the impossibly difficult Rubic's Cube.

Our very own Olympian.

Kakashi Sensei with his girlfriend Sakura. Now if you watch the show, you'll realise that this is what we call pedophelia.

The three lovely ladies, by lovely, I mean hideous, and by ladies, I mean guys.

Our very own brown Superman, it's Sunil Kent.

Not only is duct tape an engineers best friend, it's also a cowboy's best friend.

We hog tied the moose.

The winner of the bottle of Jack for the best costume.

Our VPs Finance and Design.

Here's the math chick with the safety first aerobic instructor and the duct tape cowboy.
Me posing for the camera in my home-made Shinigami outfit. In case you're wondering, I'm supposed to be Sosuke Aizen's replacement.

Looks like Elvis in his late years. He's finally left the building, it's about time.

Google should buy me for $1.65 billion

So it might be old news now, but Google is finally jumping on the YouTube band wagon now by buying them out for $1.65 billion. If you're thinking that that's a lot of money, you're damn right it is. It'd take me a long time to spend all that green (or blue, purple, green, red, brown if it was Canadian money). Google can buy me out for that much and they can advertise all over me if they wanted. But like all things that involve money, there's a downside to it all. YouTube sucks now! That's right, you heard it here first, probably not, but just pretend. Google has found a way to destroy YouTube. There's this program that finds all copyrighted material, well maybe not all because technology sucks too, on the site and deletes it. Yes kiddies, this means I cannot watch Robot Chicken on YouTube anymore, thank God for torrents. At least my drum videos are safe for the time being.

And for all those nay-sayers, the Koivu-Higgins-Ryder line is rockin' the Casbah!!

The end of manners?

Has anyone noticed that there is a total lack of courtesy in the world today? Well at least in Montreal. I mean, I don't actually mean to rant, but it's pissing me off. People enjoy sucking face on public streets, they cut in line with no regard for anyone else, old people grumble if you don't get up from your seat on the bus, people take the entire escalator and just park themselves there. ARGH! I mean come on, does it really hinder anything in your life to just stand at the right of the escalator and let other people walk up? And the general public really don't want to see a couple having a make-out session on the side of the road. Keep it in your pants for chrissake. I sound like a ranting old man here, but what does it take for people to have some kind of common courtesy. Just don't get me started on common sense. Natural selection really should work a little faster.

The October from Hell

Not only does this month have the dreadful Friday teh 13th, but it's midterm season. If Freddy came to haunt my dreams, that would be the least of my worries. Starting the 19th, and ending a week later, I'll have the midterms in all six of my classes accounted for. Two on the 19th, two on the 20th, supposed to be one on the 21st, but we'll have none of that, and one on the 25th. That's an average of almost one a day.

However the upside of the month is the partying. On the 20th, Eng Games has our halloween, yes with costumes and everything, at Caprice (across the street from Cafe Campus). On the 26th, ITR has their F1 with dollar drinks. And the day after that, CSCE has their Halloween Lizard Lounge/Pumkin-carving contest. AHHHH! Wonderful engineers!

After this month I'll finally be able to start jamming. I can't wait. I really want to test out my drums in a real setting. Hopefully I'll have my snare drum ready by then, doubtful, but one could always hope. I need a job so i can pay for stuff, mainly my drums. Money would be a good idea, i should start selling the crap on ebay, but that requires money. Son of a Bitch!
